what do you say?

What do you do when you run into a child with autism? As a parent of autism, I have a good sense for knowing the kids that have autism. But, I never know what to say to their parents. I always want to acknowledge it so that the parent knows they have a sympathetic person in the room. But, how would that be received? What if the parent doesn’t know their child has autism? What if the parent is hoping their child is doing so well that no one knows they have autism? What if the parent is tired of talking about it and just wants a day off? What if they don’t want you nosing into their business?
